Wining in Florence
The history of wine making in and around Florence. This program sheds light on wine, its history, and the relationship with the city of Florence and its noble families such as Antinori and Frescobaldi. There will be a brief wine itinerary in the city, before starting the actual wine tasting session. The session includes a guided wine tasting of the most famous DOCG wines in Tuscany, with three wines included. Then you’ll have a light lunch accompained by wines in a local restaurant.

The program
- 10:00 You meet your guide at your hotel reception in Florence
- You have a walk looking for the old Florentine wine makers, as well as the so-called “wine’s windows”. The old wine makers in Florence during the 1800s were small taverns, which were offering their service to local artisans. Stop at Palazzo Antinori, which represents the Corporation of the Wine Makers.
- 10:30 Walking towards Enoteca Alessi to join a professional-led wine tasting session with small traditional appetizers
- 11:00 Introduction to main Tuscan red wines and descriptions of the most widespread vines; the traditional denomination of origin (D.O.C.G.); the best of the traditional production, Vernaccia, Chianti Classico and Brunello; the role of the international grape varieties and new trends. The tasting session will be conducted around the table, with red and white wines
- 12:00 Walking towards the Restaurant La Cucina del Ghianda for a light lunch paired with wines
- 14:00 You are back to your hotel
The price of the program includes: an expert English-speaking guide, guided wine tasting and a Tuscan light lunch with wine.
