Certosa di Pavia and Oltrepò Pavese Wine Tour
Combining the historical visit to one of the most important masterpieces of the Lombard Renaissance with 2 enological and gastronomic experiences, this tour outlines the variety of attractions in the Oltrepo’ area. Starting from Milan or Pavia, the tour begins with a visit to Certosa di Pavia, one of the largest and most impressive monasteries in Italy. A specialized, historical guide will introduce you to this stunning Unesco World Heritage site, which contains, among the others, frescoes by Bernardino Luini and Umbrian master Il Perugino. The second stop, along with a typical lunch, will be held on the stunning terrace of Prime Alture wine resort that, built about 10 years ago, is a perfect example of how architecture can gently blend with nature. A salt water pool, a vegetable garden and a barbecue complete the experience. In the afternoon, you’ll be driven to Tenuta Conte Vistarino where, since 1629, Giorgi’s family has been owning an outstanding estate of 826 hectares. The family was the first to introduce pinot nero grape to Oltrepo’ Pavese that, after Champagne and Burgundy, is currently the third largest area in the world for the production of this wine. A wine tasting will be held in the jardin d’hiver of Villa Fornace, a perfectly preserved, 18th century villa that in the past has hosted members of the Italian, as well as the British Royal family.
