Seven days from Florence to Siena and back along the Chianti hills
This bike tour in stages follows a circular itinerary through the most picturesque spots and places richest in beauty, history and taste in Chianti. This tour offers the chance to follow a circuit with departure from Florence, going through Siena and then returning to Florence, along the hills of Chianti Classico and visiting medieval hamlets, castles and Romanesque churches. To make up for the physical exercise we’ll be stopping to taste good wines and the specialties of Tuscan cooking.

The program
Day 1: Florence – Greve in Chianti - 35 km. (8 on dirt roads) - This stage starts with a very easy uphill to Piazzale Michelangelo, one of the most scenic panoramic spots over the city center of Florence from the south. Along the way light lunch at Osteria da Bule. From Florence we'll be riding ups and downs to Impruneta and then along the Chianti hills to Greve in Chianti. Tuscan dinner at Terre di Baccio with the wines produced by the winery.
Day 2: Greve in Chianti - San Gimignano - 37 km. (2 on dirt roads) - On the third day we'll be riding through one of the most beautiful stretches of the Chianti hills area, trough San Donato and Barberino val d'Elsa, before reaching the magic towers of San Gimignano. Along the way picnic with hand-produced Tuscan cold meats and cheeses. Dinner at your own.
Day 3: San Gimignano - Siena - 43 km. (5 on dirt road) - Today's itinerary runs along the Vernaccia vineyards to the fortified village of Colle val d'Elsa, the wonderful Abbadia a Isola Abbey, the Monteriggioni Castle, to Siena. Along the way light lunch in Strove. Tuscan dinner at Compagnia dei Vinattieri in Siena.
Day 4: Siena - Castellina in Chianti - 25 km. (14 on dirt roads) - During this fourth leg we'll be following a very suggestive itinerary across the Chianti Senese to the heart of Chianti Classico cycling across a scenic expanse of hills covered with vineyards, olive groves and woodland. Along the way picnic with hand-produced Tuscan cold meats and cheeses. Dinner at your own.
Day 5: Castellina in Chianti - Castellina in Chianti - 41 km. (21 on dirt roads) - Today's ride follows a scenic circular loop across the hills of Chianti Classico passing ancient Romanesque churches and Etruscan tombs dating back to more than 2500 years ago. Tuscan dinner at Osteria della Torre.
Day 6: Castellina in Chianti - Greve in Chianti - 33 km. (9 on dirt roads) - Still cycling across the scenic Chianti Classico hills we'll be visiting the Medieval hamlet of Panzano and the ancient abbey of Badia a Passignano before reaching Greve, the chief town of Chianti. Lunch at Restaurant La Scuderia in Badia a Passignano. Dinner at your own.
Day 7: Greve in Chianti - Florence - 32 km. (all on tarmac) - During the last leg of this bike tour we'll be biking towards Florence following a very scenic itinerary through the so-called "Chianti Fiorentino". Along the way picnic with hand-produced Tuscan cold meats and cheeses. Farewell dinner at Restaurant Gastone.
The seven days tour can be scheduled for any date of the year with at least one week in advance. You can plan with us your bike tour with your family or friends. The following price is per person and inclusive of: bike tour in English, an expert guide, bicycles, back-up van, helmets and maps, lunches and picnics, tasting on two farms, four special dinners and seven nights accommodation in three star hotels in double room with bathroom and breakfast.
